Members from our SAR team attended National Night Out 2017 on Tuesday, August 1st. National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and better places to live, is held in communities all across the country.
In addition to providing information about SAR to the community, we always like to have a fun activity for the kids as well. In years past, we setup a mechanical advantage tug-o-war, that made it easy for the little kids to beat the big kids. We switched it up this year with a Jeep Pull. A 5:1 mechanical advantage pulley system was setup on either side of one of our 3,500 lb Jeep Cherokees. Encouraging cooperation, teams of kids took turns pulling the Jeep in one direction or the other. One team would pull it south, the next team to the north. As expected, another great evening was had by all!
